Artist, researcher, teacher
Maria Huhmarniemen engages with questions concerning the North, multi- and interculturalism and communality, as well as environmental issues such as the relationship between people and nature and environmental responsibility. She does installation art and environmental art, socio-political contemporary art, art-based environmental education and research . She often collaborates with other artists and researchers and participates in local discussions on environmental politics through art. Huhmarniemi teaches art education and in the Masters Degree Programme Arctic Art and Design.
